What time does school start?
School starts at 8:00 a.m. for all grades.
Supervision begins at 7:30 a.m. and students are allowed to enter the school and go to the playground. Students are not to arrive at school prior to 7:30 a.m. as there is no supervision at this time.
What should you do when your child is sick?
Please call the school's attendance line 24 hours a day, (909) 920-3101 as early as possible when your child is going to be absent. You should report your child's name, teacher's name, the reason for the absence, and who is reporting the absence (i.e. mom, dad, grandma, baby-sitter, etc.) Only an adult can clear absences. If you are unable to call the school, please send a note explaining the absence the first day your child returns to school or report the absence on the Cabrillo homepage. All absences need to be verified. Any unverified absences become truant. Every Day Counts!!
What if your child is tardy?
Students are considered tardy at 8:00 a.m. when the last bell rings. In order for students to be considered on time, they must be ready to walk into the classroom with their teacher when the 8:00 a.m. bell rings. After 8:00 a.m., students need to stop in the office to pick up a tardy slip so they won't be marked absent. Remember: Every MINUTE Counts!!
Why does the office ask for identification when picking my child up during school hours?
Identification is required for the safety of your child. Even though we might know you by face and name, sometimes there are people who work in the office that are not regulars. They don't know you and we would hate for your child to be dismissed to the wrong person. Also, please don't send someone that is not listed on Parent Portal to pick up your child....we can't release them. Remember, we are concerned about the safety of your child, so ALWAYS bring your identification.
When is dismissal time?
Dismissal is 2:30 for grades 1 - 6. TK/Kindergarten dismissal is 1:00. (April 3 Kindergarten begins full day with dismissal at 2:30 except for Wednesday which remains 1:00).
What are minimum day hours?
Each Wednesday is a minimum day for our students.
All TK/Kinders- 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Grades 1 - 6 - 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
What time should your child come for breakfast?
Breakfast starts at 7:30 a.m. and ends at 7:50 a.m. Make sure your child arrives to school for breakfast no later than 7:50 a.m. to ensure they will have time to eat and be in their classrooms on time. There is no cost to families at the current time.
How much does lunch cost?
At the moment families are not required to pay for school breakfast or lunch.
What should you do in order to request homework?
Parents can request homework through classroom dojo or call the office (909-985-2619). Please provide the name of your child and his/her teacher. If possible, let us know how many days your child will be absent. Requests for homework should be made in the morning to give the teacher time to collect the work for the day. All homework is available after 3:00 p.m.
What if you are going out of town?
If your child will be missing 3 or more days of school, please go to the office and sign an Independent Study Contract. You will need to meet with your child's teacher who will write up a study plan to be completed during your child's absence. The completed contract must be turned in upon the return of your child to the regular classroom. Unfortunately, the school cannot issue an Independent Study Contract for less than 3 days.
Where can I park to pick up my child at dismissal time?
The Cabrillo driveway is closed for picking up students at dismissal time. Parents can park in the west parking lot, if spaces are available, on the street, or at Cabrillo Park and walk down to the school to pick up your child in the front of the school. No students will be allowed to walk to the west parking lot for pickup. Please obey all traffic laws for the safety of our community.
For more information, please pick up a student-parent handbook from the school office or contact us.
