FAQ

What time does school start?

School starts at 8:00 a.m. for all grades.
Supervision begins at 7:30 a.m. and students are allowed to enter the school and go to the playground. Students are not to arrive at school prior to 7:30 a.m. as there is no supervision at this time.

What should you do when your child is sick?

Please call the school's 24-hour attendance line, (909) 920-3101 as early as possible when your child is going to be absent. You should report your child's name, teacher's name, the reason for the absence, and who is reporting the absence (i.e. mom, dad, grandma, baby-sitter, etc.) Only an adult can clear absences. If you are unable to call the school, please send a note explaining the absence the first day your child returns to school. All absences need to be verified. Any unverified absences become truant. Everyday Counts!!

What if your child is tardy?

Students are considered tardy at 8:00 a.m. when the last bell rings. In order for students to be considered on time, they must be ready to walk into the classroom with their teacher when the 8:00 a.m. bell rings. After 8:00 a.m., students need to stop in the office to pick up a tardy slip, so they won't be marked absent. Remember: Every MINUTE Counts!!

Why does the office ask for identification when picking my child up during school hours?

Identification is required for the safety of your child. Even though we might know you by face and name, there are times we may have staff who work in the office that are not familiar with our families.  It is policy to verify your identity with the student's emergency contact list before releasing a student to an adult. Also, please don't send someone that is not listed on the student's contact list to pick up your child.... we cannot release them. If you would like to add an individual to the emergency contact list, you may log in to your Aeries Parent Portal to update the list. Remember, we are concerned about the safety of your child, so ALWAYS bring your identification.

How much does lunch cost?

At the moment families are not required to pay for school breakfast or lunch.

What should you do in order to request homework?

Parents can request homework through classroom dojo or call the office (909-985-2619). Please provide the name of your child and his/her teacher. If possible, let us know how many days your child will be absent. Requests for homework should be made in the morning to give the teacher time to collect the work for the day. All homework is available after 3:00 p.m.

What if you are going out of town?

If your child will be missing 3 or more days of school, please call the office to discuss the option of short-term Independent Study. Our short-term independent study agreements have been updated to a digital format. Upon request, the office will send the agreement via email to the parent's email listed on the student's file. The email will come the online program, Informed K12. Please review and sign the agreement as soon as possible. The office will then contact the teacher to begin prepping the classwork.

Where can I park to pick up my child at dismissal time?

The Cabrillo driveway is closed for picking up students at dismissal time. Parents can park in the west parking lot, if spaces are available, on the street, or at Cabrillo Park and walk down to the school to pick up your child in the front of the school. Students within a primary grade level are not allowed to walk home. Please obey all traffic laws for the safety of our community.

For more information, please review the student-parent handbook on our website or you may contact our office.
